South Dakota Travel

South Dakota travel might not include a tropical beach, but you might just have a good time anyway.

If the only thing you think about when you think of South Dakota is the wide-open plains of nothingness, you sort of understand what you’re talking about. Whether you’re interested in learning more about the history or just making it to Mount Rushmore, this is a place where the prices are low, the excitement is, well, not high, but certainly better than your local dive bar. South Dakota might not seem like much, but you haven’t been there to prove it yet, have you?

South Dakota History

To be brief, South Dakota is a place where the Wild West was born. This open plain was the perfect area for settling into the new land, with rich resources and plenty of space for condos. Of course, the Sioux who settled in the area during the nineteenth century didn’t really care for the idea of a subdivision. And they didn’t have to since it hadn’t been invented yet. (Whew!)

While the Sioux were minding their own business, the settlers from the new colonies started to come in since they heard there was gold up in dem hills. Add in more railroads and more settlements and this open stretch of land became a state.

South Dakota Hotels and Vacation Rentals

When you’re looking to visit the area, you might want to consider heading to the local hotels first. These hotels will give you a warm and clean place to rest your head, even if you’re not tired. You can simply have a place to place your stuff in between tourist fun. Or you might want to choose something bigger for a longer stay, like a vacation rental. When you choose a house or a condo, it can feel as though you’re at home, even when you’re on vacation – minus the bills.

When you’re ready for a new adventure, head to South Dakota. Though it might not get the press that Hawaii or New York might, it certainly can help you connect back to a simpler time – and sometimes that’s all you want to do on your vacation.
