Prather Hall: Dakota Wesleyan University

Prather Hall was built in 1906 of Jasper Granite on the campus of Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota.  It served as the university president's home until 1936, at which time it was renovated into a music hall.  It currently houses various campus offices.  Prather Hall's turret, verandah, and asymmetrical composition are all elements of the Queen Anne Style, popular in South Dakota through the first decade of the 20th Century.  Prather Hall received a Deadwood Grant from the South Dakota State Historical Society in 2002 to supplement the costs of replacing the original verandah that was removed due to extensive deterioration.
