Governor
Nils A. Boe
Years in Office: 1965-1969
Birth: September 10, 1913; Baltic, South Dakota
Death: July 30, 1992
Governor Boe created the Planning Commission,
Building Authority, and the Higher Education Fund. He worked for property tax
relief and industrial development. Governor Boe closely monitored the activities
of state government. He was appointed Director of Intergovernmental Relations,
Washington D.C. by President Nixon. He served until 1971 when he was appointed
Chief Judge of the United States Customs Court, New York City, from which he
retired in 1984.
