Archives Newspaper Research Form

The South Dakota State Archives has most South Dakota newspapers on microfilm from 1861 to the present. Archives staff can look up obituaries and other articles if the date and location are known. All research must be pre-paid. The results of the search will be reported within a two-week time period providing payment has been received.

Newspaper microfilms are also available by interlibrary loan, and may be purchased.

A separate form must be completed for each additional request.

Please identify the town, county or location where the event took place:

Please list the title of the newspaper to search, if known:

Search requests require a prepaid search fee of $10.60 for each name per county searched.

 

Multiple searches are $21.20 per hour (maximum of 1 hour). Certified requests are an additional $5.00 each. State and local sales tax  is included. Foreign patrons must send fees in United States dollars (international money order preferred). MasterCard, Visa, and Discover cards are accepted.
