 "In the Spotlight"

The SD State Archives is pleased to announce the 3rd Annual Archives Week. We invite you to join repositories  statewide to celebrate the value of South Dakota's historical records.

This year's theme for Archives Week is "In the Spotlight."  Archives staff will "spotlight" various collections and activities to promote a better understanding of the role of the State Archives in preserving state history.

Press Releases:  Look for daily articles spotlighting collections.
Online Exhibit:  Pedigree charts spotlighting family history research in the state archives will be featured on the State Archives website.  Any South Dakotan who wishes to send a gedcom file can send it to sdshswebmaster@state.sd.us

Events: 
The State Archives will be open for tours and the following public presentations the evenings of October 14-16.  Refreshments will be served.

Archives "Movie" Night:  Join archives staff as we spotlight films from our "reel to reel" film collection

Genealogy Workshop:  Staff Archivist Virginia Hanson will spotlight genealogy resources in the archives that will assist you in  researching your family history.

Collection Care:  Staff Archivist Chelle Somsen will spotlight a manuscript collection then discuss the conservation methods she used to preserve the collection.
