Event Calendar

  • October 14th: Pierre Railroad Bridge Construction, 2pm
    This presentation will highlight photographs from the State Archives collection on the railroad bridge in Pierre. October 14th also is the 100th anniversary of the construction of the bridge. The program is sponsored by the State Archives and will be held at the Cultural Heritage Center. FREE

  • October 20th: State Archives Open, 9am - 4pm
    The State Archives will be open an extra Saturday this month in honor of Archives Month. (The archives is normally open from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm the first Saturday of every month).

  • October 21st: Stories, Photographs and History of the Pierre Indian School, 2pm
    Pierre native, Eddie Welch will describe his research on the Pierre Indian School, particularly his research in the archives. His research on the school started in 2003 and has resulted in a master's thesis. The program is sponsored by the State Archives and will be held at the Cultural Heritage Center. FREE

  • October 28th: Film of Oahe Dam Construction, 2pm
    The State Archives recently received several films documenting the construction of the dam. Contents of the film include earth work, closing the dam, aerial views, surge tank construction, cement work, and President Kennedy's speech on August 16, 1962. The program is sponsored by the State Archives and will be held at the Cultural Heritage Center. FREE
     
  • In honor Archives Month, the Adams Museum & House invites you to view their Archives Month Calendar. The calendar features historic images from the collections of Deadwood's Adams Museum, the Days of '76 Museum and the City of Deadwood. A new image becomes available every day throughout the month, so stop back each day during October.
