November 1, 2008	Application Deadline – Research Grant applications must be received (or postmarked) by the South Dakota State Archives before 4:30 pm
December 9, 2008	Award Notification – By this date, applicants are notified in writing of grant award.
December 2008	Memorandum of Agreement – The Grant Recipient will receive a Memorandum of Agreement to sign and return to the South Dakota Heritage Fund before the research begins. Upon receiving the signed Memorandum of Agreement the grantee will receive the first $250.
March 2, 2009	First Draft Paper – A First Draft of the paper is required at this time. Upon receiving the First Draft the grantee will receive the second $250.
April 1, 2009	Completion Date – Research Grant papers must be submitted to the State Archives by this date. Upon receiving the completed Final Draft the grantee will receive the final $250.
