The Museum of the South Dakota State Historical Society has 15,000 square ft. of exhibition space located in the Cultural Heritage Center. The exhibits are divided into the following five galleries:

Oyate Tawicoh'an The Sioux way of life - kinship and values as directions for daily living.	Proving Up The experiences of immigrants to a remote territory - how they interacted with native peoples and developed a booming state.	Changing Times South Dakota in the 20th Century The challenges and successes South Dakotans experienced in the 1900s.
Temporary Exhibitions A series of changing exhibits on themes in South Dakota history and culture on exhibit in our galleries and display cases.	The Dakota Experience Online Exhibition	Observation Gallery Lewis & Clark in South Dakota and Governor's Award winners in History and Art.

The Museum gives tours of the galleries to groups.
