ACTIVITIES

Purpose is to collect and preserve local history in order to be a resource for the community.

The Elkton Community Museum and Historical Society celebrated its 15th anniversary May 15, 2004 with an open house, cake, and coffee.

Since Elkton celebrates 125 years this year, the museum has had special exhibits each month to coordinate with monthly events.  Earl Fick from Rock Hill, South Carolina, recently donated a traveling bag made from the hide of Hero the elephant for his great-grandfather.  Hero was the rogue elephant who escaped from the circus to terrorize Elkton residents in May 1916.

They also have school contests, special exhibits, and genealogy help.
