Lawrence County has a vast amount of diversity, and the society’s goal is to enhance the members’ understanding of the history behind that diversity. The field trips vary greatly in topics, from agriculture to mining. Other special projects and activities are sponsored as well.

Two field trips are sponsored each year.  The society also has committees that deal with historic markers and county cemeteries.
