ACTIVITIES
|
This year is the 13th Annual Good Old
Summertime 4th of July Festival as well as the Annual Honoring of Elders
over 80 years of age. The festival promotes the county's non-profit
organizations and provides an opportunity for the organizations to raise
funds for their projects. The City Band performs at 1 p.m. This year they
are excited to be using the new band shell that was built last fall on the
old swimming pool area near the museum grounds. There are booths serving
food, and games for the children. An Ecumenical Service is held in the
first frame building in Moody County, the First Presbyterian Church, built
in 1873 by the Santee Settlers. The festival draws a large crowd with school
reunion "students," families and friends who enjoy sitting, eating and
visiting. The National Guard Recruiting Tent offers a cool place for the
Elders to sit and enjoy the day.
The 17th Annual Festival of Christmas
Trees will be held this year in the Moody County Courthouse.
