The society is
a non-profit (501C), privately funded corporation, administered by a
9-member elected board of directors. The society has more than 200 members.
The main focus of the society is the operation of the Timber
Lake and Area
Museum. A new 9,000-square-foot museum building will open later this year.
The society recently published a biography of J.D. Kesling and also
publishes a quarterly newsletter for its members.
The society is involved in historic preservation and paleontology and has an
extensive photo archives department.
The society also administers the Bob Urban Scholarship Fund.
