Dec. 13, 2007 ‘Made in South Dakota’ products featured at Cultural Heritage Center PIERRE, S.D. – Six “Made in South Dakota” vendors will be on hand from 1-4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, for a “trunk showing” at the South Dakota Cultural Heritage Center. The following products will be displayed and for sale: n Christmas cookies from “The Cookie Lady” of Pierre n Stained glass from “Glass Images” of Pierre n Candles from “Dakota Scents” of Parkston n Purses from “Handbags by Hammer” of Pierre n Pottery from “Bushnell Pottery” of Bushnell n Jewelry from “SD Chic Beads” of Brookings
“Made in South Dakota” is an Internet shopping service of the Department of Tourism and State Development that features about 20,000 different items from around 450 South Dakota vendors and artists. The Web site is www.madeinsouthdakota.com. Also on Sunday, a continuous power point presentation featuring winter scenes in South Dakota and produced by the South Dakota State Historical Society-Archives will be shown in the education room. Visitors to the Cultural Heritage Center can see a display of miniature replicas of historic buildings in Pierre through Wednesday, Jan. 2. The buildings include the State Capitol, First United Methodist Church, the American Legion Cabin, the Soldiers and Sailors Building, the South Dakota Discovery Center, the Pringle Apartments, and the Woster and Bjork Houses. Through Monday, Dec. 24, the Cultural Heritage Center will be open extended hours to accommodate holiday visitors. Museum hours will be 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 1-4:30 p.m. on Sundays.
