PIERRE, SD – Rare books is the theme of a workshop being sponsored by the South Dakota State Historical Records Advisory Board on Thursday, May 31, in Mitchell. The workshop will be held from 10 a.m-3:30 p.m. at the McGovern Library.

Dr. Stephen VanBuren, an archivist from South Dakota State University in Brookings, will provide an overview on rare books, focusing on the current market, handling and preservation, the Bex Remnant Trust project, hands-on elements, and problem-solving issues. This workshop is free to attendees, although seating is limited.

It is the central advisory committee for historical records planning, coordinating archival activities in the state, and developing and implementing projects in the state that are funded by the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.
