IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Nov. 8, 2007 State Historical Society-Archives offers online newsletter, seeks donations PIERRE, S.D. – The State Archives of the South Dakota State Historical Society is offering a free online newsletter. “This newsletter is a chance for the State Archives to connect to people interested in archives news and online databases,” said Matthew T. Reitzel, manuscript archivist for the State Archives. People who sign up will receive a quarterly newsletter via email. The newsletter will serve two functions, according to Reitzel. First, it will alert subscribers to the newest online databases and other recent State Archives news. Second, it will provide direct web links to the most used State Archives websites. To subscribe, contact Reitzel via e-mail to join the list server at Matthew.Reitzel@state.sd.us or visit the State Historical Society’s website at www.sdhistory.org and click on the State Archives webpage. On the left-hand column find the link for “E-newsletter” and follow the instructions. The State Archives is always in search of manuscripts, photographs, journals, books, recordings and other collections of South Dakota history to add to the Society’s holdings. Please contact the State Archives staff before sending materials. Staff members will be able to determine whether similar items have been donated and if the materials are within the State Archives’ collection focus. The South Dakota State Archives is located in the Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre. The State Archives is open Monday through Friday and the first Saturday of each month from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. You can contact the archives by phone at (605) 773-3804 or e-mail at archref@state.sd.us |
