FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 23, 2008 Holiday, summer hours announced for Cultural Heritage Center museum PIERRE, S.D. – The museum in the South Dakota Cultural Heritage Center is open Monday for the Memorial Day holiday from 1-4:30 p.m. Starting Tuesday, May 27, and running through Labor Day in September, the museum will be open extended hours – Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and Sundays and holidays from 1-4:30 p.m. The award-winning museum features The South Dakota Experience, an exhibit telling the stories of the people of our state from before the arrival of Europeans in 1743 through the end of the 20th Century. Sportsman’s Paradise: Hunting and Fishing in South Dakota is the latest temporary exhibit. “We hope local people take advantage of the extra hours and bring their guests to the Cultural Heritage Center, and let central South Dakota visitors know about the center and our hours,” said Jay D. Vogt, Director of the South Dakota State Historical Society, headquartered in the Cultural Heritage Center. Public hours for the archives research room remain unchanged -- 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and the first Saturday of each month. For more information, call (605) 773-6000. |
